Scope

'Correspondence pertains to the establishment of an archive for the Society for Libyan Studies at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. The archive is intended to hold archaeological records and other documentary material from Libya. The file includes copy Council Minutes, correspondence, financial statements and accounts, and notes. Correspondence involves the following individuals; P.J. Fowler, Professor of Archaeology and Head of Department of Archaeology, the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne; T.L. Taylor, Grove Place, Goudhurst, Kent; Professor Barri [G.D.B. Jones, Department of Archaeology, University of Manchester; Miss Lynn Ritchie, Department of Archaeology, the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and J. Cameron Blackhall, Acting Head of Department of Town and Country Planning, the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Also present is a manuscript list of glass plate negatives and one glass plate negative which shows a partial map of the Parish of Falstone and Parish of Thornyrurn.'
