Scope

Outcropping rock at base of escarpment. E end of panel extends into cleft, from which carvings appear to emerge. Carvings on overhanging surface.

Arrangement

Elephant, rhinoceros, Hartebeest, antelope (Reedbuck?), four quadrupeds, abstract, indeterminate, incised lines, pecking: At left (E) end of panel, at the entrance to the cleft, is incised outline of elephant in motion (rearing?) facing right with ear, eye, tusk, elongated trunk stretching down into the ground, possibly extended later, lines and pecking on body, rounded feet, rounded shape above back. Below are three incised forked stick-like motifs. To the right is incised outline of bovid facing right with cervico-thoracic hump and large upward curving horns, possibly a Hartebeest, pecking on hide. Below at base of panel is incised outline of quadruped facing left with backward pointing horn. To the right is incised outline of rhinoceros in motion facing right, with elongated horn and short horn on snout, small ears, bi-occular, short curled tail, pecking and incised lines of indeterminate image on body. To the right is incised outline of a quadruped facing right. Below this is incised outline of an antelope in motion facing right with forward curving horns, possibly a Reedbuck. This is superimposed over incised outline of quadruped facing right with legs disappearing into the ground, rounded belly, head indistinct. To the right is incised outline of quadruped in motion facing right, head indistinct. Numerous lines and indeterminate images suggest multiple layers of carving. Figures 5.7a, 7.38
