Scope

Boulder on lower slope of small promontory terminus at mouth of tributary and confluence of watercourses, in area with multiple carved surfaces. Carvings on sloping upper surface.

Arrangement

Seventeen humans, three oryx, three antelope (one reedbuck?), two bovids, abstract, grooves, pecking: On narrow upper edge of panel is pecked outline of antelope facing right with upward then backward curving horn, line across neck. Below are pecked lines and pecking. Below this is pecked outline of antelope facing right with tail and long backward curving horns, two short incised upward pointing horns probably added later. To the left is pecked outline of antelope (reedbuck?) facing left with long neck, backward then forward curving horns. U-shaped grooves to left, and possible partial animal. Below is small group of images comprising two animals and a human: On left is incised outline of oryx facing right with long backward curving horns, large fissure running through body. On right, facing oryx, is incised outline of an antelope facing left with upward pointing horns, partly exfoliated, long tail. Between these images is schematic human with circular head, arms and legs extended. Pecking around human. To the right is another group of images comprising three animals and at least sixteen schematic humans: On left is incised outline of oryx with long upward pointing horns, long tail. To the right are three pecked schematic humans in a line with arms outstretched, with a fourth schematic human and a pecked ovoid outline with radiating lines above. To the right is pecked and incised outline of bovid facing right with upward curving horns, tail and dorsal line merging with abstract image. To the right is incised outline of bovid facing right with curved back, short forward pointing horns, pecking on body. Between the two bovids is pecked schematic human, appearing to hold foreleg of left bovid and tail/hind leg of right bovid. Above this row of images are at least eleven pecked schematic humans of different sizes and pecking, all with circular heads, and outstretched arms and legs. Figure 7.22
